AWS Energy Services Signs Constellation Power Source as Initial Beta-Test Customer

AWS Convergence Technologies to Provide Real-Time Weather Information to Energy Marketer

Gaithersburg, MD (April 22, 2002) - Constellation Power Source has signed on as one of the first energy marketing companies to beta test AWS Energy Services' new real-time weather information and analysis tools on its trading floor. AWS Energy Services (www.aws.com/energy) is a newly formed division of AWS Convergence Technologies that today unveiled a suite of weather information tools that customized for the energy industry (see separate press release "AWS Convergence Technologies Launches Energy Services Division with Instantaneous Weather Information and Analysis Solutions for the Energy Industry").

Constellation Power Source, a wholly owned subsidiary of Constellation Energy Group (NYSE: CEG), is now testing AWS tools on its real-time and term-trading desks. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Constellation Power Source markets and trades electricity in the wholesale market, manages associated risks in volatile electricity markets, and is aligned with its affiliates which develop, own and operate power plants in strategic markets in North America.

"AWS brought us the only network of weather stations that can instantly stream weather data to our traders' desktops. With this tool, we are able to identify and capitalize on wholesale energy trading opportunities across NERC regions more quickly," said Stuart Rubenstein, COO of Constellation Power Source.

Early next quarter, AWS Energy Services will begin shipping the first product in the new suite - MesoStreamer, which tracks and analyzes weather trends in real-time that impact electricity/gas price changes and distribution. All AWS energy products will be powered by the vast AWS WeatherNet network, which includes more than 5,000 automated monitoring stations across the U.S. It is the largest network of its kind - the only one that can reliably measure weather conditions and instantaneously deliver this information and associated analysis to end users.
