Gaithersburg, MD
Gaithersburg, MD (April 8, 2002) - Media & Methods Magazine, the leading technology & education magazine used for purchasing decisions in K-12 schools, has selected the AWS School WeatherNet Program as 2002's "Education Technology of the Year."
The AWS School WeatherNet Program is an interactive learning tool that seamlessly integrates real-time local and national weather data and camera images into a range of science and math lessons for elementary, middle and high school students. Using WeatherNet, teachers can construct customized lessons that create an optimum learning environment based on real weather conditions and not just theory.
"WeatherNet has long been recognized by more than 5,000 schools as a 'must-have' education technology that greatly enhances science and math skills," said Bob Marshall, President and CEO of AWS Convergence Technologies. "We are flattered that a prestigious magazine for educators and administrators has now also recognized its value. We plan to add new functionality and features to the product, such as WeatherNet Classroom, that continue push the envelope and develop the most essential weather curriculum tools and learning solutions for the K-12 market."
Media & Methods magazine's annual Awards Portfolio competition recognizes outstanding K-12 education materials. A jury of educators reviews products that are submitted and honors only a select few that make meaningful contributions to excellence in K-12 schools nationwide. The awards will be officially announced in the May 2002 issue.
