AWS Debuts New Version of WeatherBug Desktop Weather Service and Premium Subscription Edition.

Gaithersburg, MD  The company also announced that AWS WeatherBug now has more than six million registered users. Both the free and premium versions are available today at www.weatherbug.com.

Gaithersburg, MD, November 5, 2001 - AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc., which owns and operates the country's largest weather network, today launched a new version of its popular free WeatherBug software as well as WeatherBug Pro, a new premium subscription edition. The company also announced that AWS WeatherBug now has more than six million registered users. Both the free and premium versions are available today at www.weatherbug.com.

AWS WeatherBug is entirely unique from any other source for online weather information because it streams real-time local conditions from more than 6,000 communities direct to users' PCs. AWS WeatherBug and WeatherBug Pro are supported by the company's proprietary automated weather network, which is located almost entirely at schools around the country. Launched in 1993, this network has grown to become more than five times the size of any other weather reporting network in the world, providing users with highly accurate local conditions.

AWS WeatherBug provides four-day forecasts, live camera images, local Doppler radar, as well as visual/audible alerts when the National Weather Service issues a severe weather bulletin. The WeatherBug application is accessible by clicking on a temperature icon that sits in the Windows taskbar and updates in real time. The new free version of the product (version 3.0) adds enhanced navigational tools, time-lapse camera images, improved forecasting features, enhanced winter weather coverage, beach & boating conditions and more. In July, Nielsen//NetRatings reported that WeatherBug was the number one weather site on the Internet, as measured in total page views.

WeatherBug Pro is a new premium advertising-free version of the product that offers all the features of the free edition plus airport delays, historical weather data, free e-mail technical support, a professional sports weather outlook, international weather conditions and forecasts, and the ability to select a custom background (or "skin") from an expanding gallery of options. Developed at the request of many WeatherBug loyalists, WeatherBug Pro is available today for an annual subscription fee of $19.95.

"Weather impacts everyone's daily life. Hour-old weather data from an airport 30 miles away does not satisfy the needs that people have in the information age," said AWS President and CEO Bob Marshall. "People want access to real-time weather data from their local communities that is on-demand 24 hours a day. AWS WeatherBug 3.0 and WeatherBug Pro build on our existing franchise with a suite of new features that delivers even more value to our users and advertisers."

For advertisers, AWS WeatherBug 3.0 adds new streaming media capabilities and more rich content that can be delivered via AWS' proprietary Brand Wrap™ technology. A breakthrough concept in interactive advertising, the AWS Brand Wrap enhances advertisers' brand recall by creating a custom background (or "skin") for the WeatherBug application using an advertiser's graphics and message. AWS' Wrap advertisers include an array of well-known national brands. For Wrap examples, see the AWS WeatherBug Wrap Gallery at http://www.weatherbug.com/wraps.
