Gaithersburg, MD - AWS, Inc.
set a new company record in September for its HurricaneNet web page content as East Coast
residence kept a wary eye on Hurricane Floyd and its effects on their hometown communities. "Never before has AWS experienced
such a dramatic peak in website traffic," said AWS President, Robert Marshall. Marshall added that he, "attributes the large
increase in hits and unique visitors to the fact that AWS is considered one of the top sources for real-time weather conditions
across the United States." Between September 13th and September 16th, AWS recorded 825,000 page views to its special HurricaneNet
section of the company's website, resulting in a 300% increase in web traffic.
"For the first time ever, people are turning to the Internet as a new primary source for hurricane news. Floyd will go down in
the books as the first 'Internet hurricane', " said Kyle Pike, AWS Webmaster. "Much thanks in part to our partnership with broadcasters
nationwide, weather watchers everywhere now have access to the two most immediate mediums for weather reports and data -- local TV
news on-air and on-line. The addition of the Internet has made reporting a truly round-the-clock accessible source."
Since 1995, AWS' HurricaneNet has offered up-to-the-minute hurricane weather reports and data. AWS now maintains over 4000+ weather
stations, situated in communities across the nation. The AWS network includes the entire East Coast and is able to provide surfers with
in-depth weather data for the shoreline and surrounding communities. This comprehensive website includes exclusive, localized data such
as; rainfall amounts, wind gusts, barometric pressure readings, temperatures, as well as providing a whole host of links to other top
weather service sites (including: NOAA, FEMA and the
National Hurricane Center). Anyone can check out http://aws.com
