Gaithersburg, MD --
As Tropical Storm Gordon threatens to become a hurricane this evening and make landfall in Western Florida early Monday,
residents along Florida's Gulf Coast will need the most up-to-date weather reports to help prepare for the coming storm.
The WeatherBug.com Live StormTracker, the world's first and only real-time mobile Internet Weather Resource Center, will
provide coastal residents and weather watchers nationwide with live conditions from the heart of the hurricane through a
free desktop WeatherBug tool that can be downloaded from http://www.weatherbug.com.
"The WeatherBug.com Live StormTracker will be an important resource for emergency staff, meteorologists, and communities,"
said Bob Marshall, President and CEO of AWS, Inc.-the makers of the WeatherBug. "Our real-time weather information helps to
better prepare and inform communities facing severe weather, so that loss of life and property can be lessened."
The WeatherBug.com Live StormTracker-a technically enhanced Dodge Durango-is outfitted with an
up-to-the-second AirWatch Weather System and an InstaCam
web-ready camera. This state-of-the-art equipment, developed by AWS, relays live weather data and images via the Internet to
WeatherBug users nationwide. The data is also displayed on large electronic monitors mounted on the truck to enable those at
the scene to keep an eye on conditions.
The Live StormTracker is also equipped with two computers, a printer, and Internet access that will be used to receive
valuable information on storm track, forecasts and warnings. AWS on-site meteorologists will use the information to brief
reporters and emergency management personnel. This type of timely information has never before been available on site,
making the Live StormTracker an indispensable resource during severe storm situations.
To see the WeatherBug.com Live StormTracker in action, download the WeatherBug at www.weatherbug.com: user-friendly
