AWS InstaSports Builds State-of-the-Art Call Center to Provide Local High Schools Coaches Fast and Accurate Touch Tone Score Reporting

Gaithersburg, MD - AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc.   , the world leader in delivering hyper-local convergence products for broadcast television and the Internet, announces the unveiling of its state-of-the-art, premiere InstaSports call center. The center will be accessible via a toll-free 1-800 number and will enable athletic directors, coaches and team managers to instantly report game scores using two options - verbally over the phone or via an easy-to-use touch tone interface. The acquisition of game scores in time to take them to air is a significant benefit to AWS broadcast partners. The technology will improve the speed and accuracy with which scores are reported and disseminated to AWS partners for use in their on-air broadcasts.

"We are determined to make certain that the value of InstaSports hits home every day in our clients newscasts and not just online and in communities," said Andrew Jedynak, Vice President of Business Development for AWS. "Providing as many scores as possible to our broadcast partners by news time is imperative."

The call center dramatically reduces the time and steps traditionally required by coaches and team managers to report local sports scores. The InstaSports call center, which will be fully operational for the start of this fall's high school sports season, will be manned 22 hours-per-day, 6 days per week so that coaches across the country can dial up InstaSports at any time to report line scores for football and scores for all other sports. As soon as scores are called in, InstaSports technology transmits relevant scores to local broadcast partners for use in their on-air tickers.

InstaSports brings local television stations groundbreaking coverage of local high school sports and is now widely recognized as the largest database of high school scores, schedules and statistics in the nation. Using AWS' patent pending web-to-television technology, InstaSports enables broadcast partners to expand their sports brands to the Internet, the wireless Web and into schools and communities.

AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc. (formerly Automated Weather Source) serves more than 100 television stations in as many markets nationwide, with a suite of market-exclusive television/Internet convergence products.

Established in January 1993, AWS owns and operates the Internet's only source for live hyper-local neighborhood weather and personal forecasts. Comprising more than 4,000 neighborhood weather stations, AWS WeatherNet is the world's largest real-time weather network -- three times larger than the National Weather Service report network, upon which all other content providers rely for current conditions. Live data generated by WeatherNet is accessible via local partner television stations, PCs on the Internet, alpha-pagers, Internet-ready wireless phones and Palm© connected organizers.
