Gaithersburg, MD - AWS, Inc.
announces the release of Wireless WeatherNet, the world's only
wireless source for real-time, hyper-local weather conditions and personal forecasts. Launched last
Friday as part of the new WeatherNet+ convergence tool for television stations, AWS' Wireless
WeatherNet has already garnered the highest possible rating from one of the Internet's most respected
technology authorities, ZDNet.com. "This is a fantastic [Palm] PQA1 that almost everyone will find
useful," says ZDNet.
"Wireless Internet technology is widely regarded as the future of personal communications.
By leveraging our exclusive network of local, real-time weather stations and forecast technology,
our client television stations will now offer the most personally relevant weather information,"
said Andrew Jedynak, Director of Product and Business Development at AWS.
"Internet users are demanding local content and there is simply no other source for live, hyper-local
weather conditions and forecasts," says Bob Marshall, President of AWS.
AWS is pioneer of the WeatherNet Program, which is now the world's largest real-time weather
network, boasting more than 4,000 neighborhood-based weather stations, distributed across more
than 100 partner television station markets. AWS WeatherNet systems are connected directly to the
Internet where live streaming technology is employed to feature local weather conditions on television
broadcasts, and Internet web pages. With this announcement, AWS' weather network now can be accessed
via digital pagers, digital cellular phones, Internet-ready wireless cell phone and PDAs.
