WeatherBug Expands Management Team and Infrastructure to Keep Pace with Continuing Growth

Gaithersburg, MD

Gaithersburg, MD -- July 7, 2004 - WeatherBug® today announced that it has bolstered its management team with two key hires and expanded its operations with new advertising sales offices in New York and San Francisco. WeatherBug provides live neighborhood weather from across the U.S. to broadcasters, federal and state government agencies, the National Weather Service, schools, consumers and businesses.

"Our company has reached an inflection point that warrants a significant investment in our physical and internal infrastructure," said WeatherBug’s President and CEO Bob Marshall. "The WeatherBug consumer product realized a 36% gain in online traffic in May, supported in part by our new partnership with AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). We are now the 18th largest online media property, according to comScore Media Metrix,* and through recent product launches and sales growth we are adding new locations and people to continue to support our revenue goals.”

Rich Spaulding has joined WeatherBug’s parent company, AWS Convergence Technologies, as its first Chief Financial Officer. He will oversee all finance and human resource activities to assure continued and steady growth. Spaulding was previously Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at ePresence, a security and identity management services company recently acquired by Unisys.

While with ePresence, Spaulding led the company’s overall financial, legal and administrative organizations. He played an integral role in the company’s IPO of its Switchboard Internet subsidiary in 2002, which raised nearly $100M to support future expansion. During his 14 years with the company, he had responsibility for the company's financial and information technology operations, as well as legal function, and has extensive merger and acquisition experience.

WeatherBug also added Pete Celano to the management team as Vice President of Marketing for its consumer division, also a new position. Celano is an Internet veteran of two Maryland firms. In the mid 1990’s he was Internet Group Manager for FileTek. Later, in 1998, Celano founded and then ran DashCenter, Inc., an Application Service Provider for rich media offering B2C and B2B infrastructure for video and audio streaming.

Finally, WeatherBug opened two new advertising sales offices in New York and San Francisco. The new offices are designated to bring the company closer to its many advertising clients on both coasts.
