Gaithersburg, MD
Gaithersburg, April 6, 2004 - AWS Convergence Technologies today announced that it is folding its entire portfolio of products for individuals, schools, businesses, and communities under the WeatherBug brand name. The move is designed to reinforce WeatherBug’s position as America’s most trusted brand for accurate, most localized weather information.
"Every day, more consumers rely on WeatherBug for their personalized, local weather and severe weather alerts than any other source. By unifying all of our products underneath one distinct and powerful brand we are sending a message that all of our products provide their respective markets with that same high value. The WeatherBug brand has become synonymous with ‘precision' as all of our products are powered by our exclusive network of more than 7,000 live weather sensors and cameras that produce neighborhood specific reports every minute, not just hourly," said Bob Marshall, President and CEO of AWS Convergence Technologies.
Under the new brand architecture all of the company's consumer-facing products will carry the name WeatherBug. These include: WeatherBug Achieve, a K-12 educational tool unveiled yesterday that utilizes live weather data to build student math, science, technology and geography skills and WeatherBug Media, a program used by 100 local broadcasters that includes on-air, online and desktop-based weather information. AWS is also merging its products for business such as energy and transportation under WeatherBug by forming new group called WeatherBug Professional.
WeatherBug, which launched in 2000, is AWS' popular consumer weather Internet application. WeatherBug is now one of the most visited properties on the Web. It has more than 31 million registered users and a roster of brand names who advertise on the product.
