Gaithersburg, MD, November 21, 2002 - AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc., which owns and operates the largest weather network in the world, today announced the appointment of Chris McCown as WeatherBug Product Director. McCown previously played a key role in interactive and information technology development within multiple divisions at NBC. In his new role at AWS, he is responsible for developing WeatherBug strategy, as well as directing product operations and development.
WeatherBug (http://www.weatherbug.com) is the leading source of weather information on the Web, according to comScore Media Metrix. The free desktop weather software application streams live neighborhood weather conditions, severe weather warnings, emergency alerts, forecasts and more direct to 15 million PC users.
Prior to joining AWS, McCown was Director of Operations for CNBC.com, where he directed a major site overhaul - a sophisticated project that spanned multiple technical teams. Previously, he led interactive product operations and development for NBC's owned-and-operated television stations. Most recently, as Director of Studios for NBC's west coast information technology team, McCown was responsible for successfully launching a host of key initiatives. Additionally, McCown is Six Sigma Black Belt trained.
