WeatherBug™ Pro Reaches 35,000 Paid Subscribers

Gaithersburg, MD

Gaithersburg, MD, September 19, 2002 - WeatherBug announced today that WeatherBug Pro has signed on more than 35,000 paid subscribers in less than one year. WeatherBug (www.weatherbug.com) is a desktop weather software application that streams live neighborhood weather conditions, severe weather warnings, emergency alerts, forecasts and more directly to PC users' desktops. In a little more than two years, the free and paid versions together have grown to a combined 13 million users, making WeatherBug the favorite weather destination on the Internet.

"The subscription version of our product, WeatherBug Pro, has become a draw because it provides critical up-to-the-second information that you cannot get anywhere else, and that is free of any advertising," said Andy Jedynak, VP, Business Development for AWS Convergence Technologies. AWS owns and operates WeatherBug which is powered by the WeatherNet Network which is the largest private network of weather stations in the world. "What's important is that people have a choice. While we have millions of customers who appreciate the sponsors who support the free version of WeatherBug, some people would simply prefer to pay their own way and get the extra features."

WeatherBug Pro offers all the features of the free edition, plus no advertising, customizable backgrounds with scenic and themed wraps to suit users' particular tastes or mood, airport delays, worldwide weather conditions, professional sports weather outlooks, and more. WeatherBug Pro is available at an annual subscription fee of $19.95 and it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

WeatherBug is unique as compared to any other source of online weather information. It provides users with extremely accurate, live conditions that come directly from an AWS weather reporting station that is in many cases just a few miles away. This highly local weather information is not available from any other weather service. WeatherBug features an easy to use digital dashboard that provides five-day forecasts, live camera images with a time-lapse feature, and local Doppler radar. The WeatherBug also provides visual/audible alerts and is the largest distributor of National Weather Service weather bulletins. The WeatherBug application is always live, and sits resident as a temperature icon on the Windows taskbar.
